Its power plant consists of revving 3.4 V8 engine from racing RS Spyder, developing more than 500 hp at 9200 rev / min, and two electric motors with a total capacity of 160 kW. Gasoline engine torque is transmitted through the 7-speed robotized gearbox PDK dual clutch discs on the wheels of the rear axle, which receive additional power from the electric motor. The front wheels are also driven by the second electric motor.

 An electric power source is a lithium-ion battery with liquid cooling, which is located behind the passenger compartment, which can be recharged from an ordinary household power. In addition, the 918 Spyder is equipped with a regenerative braking system that recharges the battery during deceleration car.
